Pitch to the Press Online

Join us for Pitch to the Press Online!

Friday 28th April | 7pm | Online | Free Event | Eventbrite Link

This is an opportunity for emerging writers to pitch their work to Grattan Street Press’s commissioning team. It’s essentially literary speed dating—we want to see if your manuscript or project is the right match for us and let you find out if we could be a good match for you.

You’ll be assigned a five-minute slot to present your pitch to a panel of Grattan Street Press staff including our Commissioning Editor (Remi), our blogs team (Jenny and Charlie), and our Submissions Assistant (Sam). We’ll also be hearing a one-or-two-paragraph excerpt of your writing (if you have it handy). We’re keen to hear your ideas for novels, essays, short stories and/or blog posts. Whether you have something in the development stage or you’re working on the final draft, we’re up for it.

There will also be a copy of a backlist GSP title as prize for the best pitch!

Pitch to the Press will also feature a Q&A with Jacinta Dietrich, author of This is Us Now, which is soon to be released as an eBook. Jacinta will discuss her experience debuting as an author with Grattan Street Press, as well as her impressions of digital reading and publishing.

Grattan Street Press is the teaching press at the University of Melbourne. We’re staffed by senior publishing students, and have been publishing books since 2017. You can check out our  for more information about our list and the kind of manuscripts we’re seeking.

This is a free event, but there are limited spots available. Make sure you sign up today. Feel free to bring a glass of wine along – we know we will!

A Zoom invitation with password and joining instructions will be sent to you after you register.

We hope to see you there!
